The ForrMatts family is made up of guitarists, singers, song writers, drummers, luthiers, and loved ones of all talents and experience levels. We all have a love of music and everything that goes with it. Our goal is to provide every musician with unique and stylish, yet dependable gear. Since we personally use everything that we create and build, our gear and accessories are designed to make music more enjoyable and comfortable with endless possibilities.
FORRMATTS began with a single, off-hand comment; one sparked by a notoriously bad guitar pedal from the 1990s. After dusting it off and plugging it in, I was reminded of just how harsh, noisy, and uninspiring it sounded. My wife Shawnta said flatly, “That sounds like crap!” Half-joking and half-determined, I turned to my wife and said, “I think I can build something that sounds better.” That moment, equal parts frustration and inspiration, lit the fuse for what would become FORRMATTS. What started as a personal challenge quickly grew into a passion for crafting better-sounding, better-designed effects. We dove into building our own pedals, experimenting with circuits, components, and layouts to chase tones that the old pedal never came close to achieving. But once we were immersed in the process, we made a surprising discovery: for musicians who want to build pedals at home, the options are incredibly limited. The available kits were nearly all clones—rehashes of the same classic circuits, repackaged again and again. For someone who wanted to design something original rather than copy what already existed, the choices were minimal at best. We decided that We Could change that. FORRMATTS shifted its mission from simply building pedals to empowering others to build their own—not copies, not imitations, but truly personal designs. We began creating customizable DIY guitar pedal PCBs, engineered for flexibility, experimentation, and creativity. These boards gave musicians and builders the freedom to tweak, re-voice, rearrange, or completely reinvent the signal paths that define their sound. FORRMATTS was never meant to be just another kit company, and We never wanted to just churn out replicas of the classics. Instead, it became a platform for originality—a place where musicians could turn curiosity into craft, ideas into circuits, and inspiration into tone.
